The University of Sheffield has been voted as one of the Sunday Times Best Not-For-Profit Organisations To Work For in 2016.
UoS placed at number 32, and is the only University to feature in the list. The data used to compile the list is gathered through questionnaires randomly issued to staff, giving employees the opportunity to help the University get recognised for its achievements, impact, and importantly the supportive and happy environment it creates for its staff. Read more about the story on the University website, or you can take a look at the Sunday Times list.

Congratulations to Fabian Kruse, Jeroen Bakkers and collaborators for their fab new paper describing how they used new transcriptomic tools to identify a role for Bmp signalling in heart development. The article has recently been published in Developmental Cell. You can read a summary of the paper at the Hubrecht Website here, and you can enjoy the paper in all its glory here!As part of my postdoctoral work in the lab of Jeroen Bakkers, and in collaboration with Zahir Buiyan at the CHUV in Lausanne, we have just published a study using genome-editing techniques in zebrafish to understand why loss of the CFAP53 gene causes heterotaxy disorders in humans. You can find the paper here.
